As a City with a military heritage and gratitude in our hearts for the sacrifice of service, the City provides two heartwarming events for residents to enjoy. The morning begins with a parade of roaring motorcycles with furling flags waving in the wind. Coordinated by West Coast Thunder, the parade will begin at Frederick St. and Sunnymead Blvd. at approximately 9:30 a.m. For more information about the West Coast Thunder Bike Run/ Parade, visit www.westcoastthunder.com.
In the afternoon, the annual ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at 2:00 p.m. provides a place for the community to unify to remember those who lost their lives in service to our country, as well as the families left with that loss. With a dynamic featured speaker, guest student speaker, special music and presentations, and a post event reception, the 2016 Memorial Day Ceremony will be a wonderful way for Moreno Valley families to honor the fallen. Event details including speakers and participating groups are available online at http://www.moreno-valley.ca.us/community/mv-mem.shtml.
In between the two events, you won't want to miss the Old 395 Dedication event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Celebrate with the Moreno Valley Historical Society and the Environmental and Historical Preservation Board as they celebrate with a car and motorcycle show, historical displays, food and other fun. www.mvhistoricalsociety.org.
